The Institute for Healthcare Improvement has teamed up with Dr. Mike Evans, Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, to produce an animated whiteboard video aimed at explaining how the science of quality improvement is applied to healthcare.
This quick-paced, dynamic video is a great tool that can be used by healthcare leaders in any department to illustrate basic concepts of quality improvement and initiate conversations regarding ways to perpetuate systems style of thinking and how to stimulate systems change when necessary.
Dr. Evans’ focus on simplicity is refreshing as he talks about the need to “find something you can do by next Tuesday.” He describes an approach to change in which a team must adapt, adopt or discard. “Find something you can improve and get going,” he says.
